Complete twin-cutter tool holder set for AMMCO bench brake lathes, including matched left-hand and right-hand negative rake holders with two industrial-grade carbide inserts pre-installed. Configures the lathe for simultaneous cutting on both faces of a rotor or both surfaces of a drum, reducing total cut time per workpiece compared to single-cutter operation. Negative rake geometry handles harder materials and high-volume production loads without premature edge failure.

      Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Why are these holders marked "01" and "02"?
These markings designate the offset direction. The 01 (Left-Hand) and 02 (Right-Hand) holders are engineered as a mirrored pair for twin-cutter lathes. This allows both the inner and outer surfaces of a brake rotor to be resurfaced simultaneously at the exact same angle, ensuring perfectly parallel faces.
Can I use Positive Rake bits in these Negative Rake holders?
No. Tool holders are machined with a specific "pocket" angle. A Negative Rake holder seats the bit so the cutting edge is braced by the body of the carbide. Attempting to fit a positive rake bit will result in the wrong cutting height and angle, leading to immediate bit fracture and potential damage to the holder's precision seat.
Are these holders compatible with my Ammco bench lathe?
Yes. This 01/02 configuration is the industry standard for the Ammco 4000, 4100, 7500, and 7700 series bench lathes. They are designed to fit the standard twin-cutter bar used for domestic and import passenger vehicle service.
Why should I replace my holders in pairs?
If one holder is worn and the other is new, the cutting pressures will be uneven. This can cause the lathe to pull or lead to a slight taper in the rotor thickness. Replacing them as a set ensures both sides of the rotor receive an identical, high-quality finish.
